Driving Instructor Association believes that hazard perception is deeply flawed and failed to have the impact it should in reducing casualties among newly qualified drivers.  London Driving Schools provides intensive driving courses with cheap driving lessons. The idea of testing a novice driver’s hazard perception skills is a vital one, but the current test fails entirely in its brief and is little more than an exercise in testing reaction speed. The test is severely limited by the hardware on which it is delivered, with a limited and unrepresentative field of vision and poor drivers view video quality. It is also deeply flawed as a true hazard perception exercise in that it favours a reactive rather than proactive approach to road danger; the child walking down the pavement is not considered a potential hazard until it actually becomes a developing hazard by walking towards the road, for instance.

The hazard perception is a skill that should be taught in a structured manner by a professional driving instructor. Various polls have been taken of candidates leaving test centres concerning the level of instruction they had received from their instructor on hazard perception and the response is invariably hardly any or none. London driving school instructors concentrate largely on hazard perception as a very important part of your driving course.

Driving Instructor Association believes that hazard perception skills can and should be tested behind the wheel as part of the standard driving test, perhaps by a requirement for an element of commentary driving. If you more information about this feel free to visit London Driving School.
